just some recent grub

after giving that “honest scrap” award to some bloggers yesterday, i started to notice the number of bloggers i love but didn’t give it to out of pure forgetfulness. i should have done what shelby did and not hand it over to anybody. you’re a smart cookie, chica. there are just too many people i love in this community to be able to select such a small amount. my life truly has changed since joining wordpress. i’ve met some amazing people, reading your posts always makes me smile, i’m full of inspiration now, i’ve had lots of foodie questions answered, i’m constantly seeing creative ideas, i’m able to give support to those who need it, and i know that i have reliable people who will support me if i ever need them to. i feel like my days would be so empty if i didn’t have each and every one of your brilliant blogs to read. so there you have it. i love all of you. the people i gave the award to yesterday are not my favorite fourteen. they’re simply bloggers i love, who happened to come to my mind at the time. with all that gooey sap said, since yesterday’s post was dedicated to that award, i’ve gotten a little bit behind on photos! now for some recent eats.

brown jasmine rice, baked tofu, homemade curry sauce (the roux recipe from veganomicon's "curried udon noodle stir-fry"), a sprinkle of sea salt, and a side salad of spinach leaves and homemade asian dressing

romaine lettuce, grated zucchini, some leftover sweet potato, evoo, balsamic vinegar, italian seasoning, sea salt

i actually ate that entire salad and that entire bowl of brown rice pasta for dinner one night. i think my extra sweaty workout that morning had increased my need for the carbage! the salad was so. good. i will definitely be making it again sometime. every ingredient complimented those delicious bites of cold sweet potato.

plain probiotic soy yogurt with stevia and cinnamon, flax plus, frozen cherries

i really like yogurt and cereal together. and with frozen cherries added into the mix, what’s not to love? i love how frozen fruit freezes whatever substance surrounds it. this was an afternoon snack. looks like a breakfast, doesn’t it? haha. sometimes a big snack is in order, sometimes a small snack is in order, sometimes no snack is in order. each day is different. 🙂

acai bowl (acai and acerola puree + light coconut milk) with sliced strawberries and banana, cinnamon, coconut butter, and a sprinkle of stevia

this was a breakfast. i felt very brazilian with the acai and coconut combination. sometimes i wish i could eat my breakfasts in places where i feel like they’d fit in. wouldn’t you want to cozy up in a cabin with a warm bowl of creamy oats and a hot cup of tea? or eat some banana soft serve with fresh fruit and coconut butter while sitting in the sand on a tropical island?

corn tortillas (underneath everything), black beans flavored with cumin and nooch, tomato sauteed tempeh, chili-curry baked green beans, sun-dried tomatoes

well friends, that cereal was this morning’s breakfast, concluding this episode of recent eats! right now i’m at work with my mom, sipping on some coconut water. high quality hydration right there. this afternoon is my cousin’s birthday party. it’s going to be the last time i see my little cousins until thanksgiving! that’s the soonest i’ll be back home after moving away for college! which is NEXT SUNDAY!

have a lovely, lovely, lovely saturday everyone! i hope all of your weekends are going well so far. xo.

you’re so sweet to your fave bloggers! how long have you been blogging?
some time ago i saw a recipe with yasmin rice in one of the posts i read. now i see you made it too. does it have a special flavour/taste? is it ok to use it independently or is it better to add some of it to normal rice? it’s not so cheap but if it’s fine, i’d love to try it!
